Our local weather expert Randy Mann, has come out with his predictions for winter snow level in Coeur d'Alene and North Idaho for the 2019-202 winter.
Here are some interesting hi-lights from his article, "Weather or Not."
The average annual snowfall in Coeur d'Alene since 1895 is 69.8 inches.
Last season (2018-2019), the City of Coeur d'Alene saw an all-time record snowfall in February of 56 inches for the month, making for a total of over 90 inches in Coeur d’Alene for the 2018-19 season.
This season (2019-2020), Mann is estimating snow totals in Coeur d'Alene of around 100 inches with greater totals in the higher elevations.
It's possible Coeur d'Alene could see a season that challenges the record breaking 172.9 inches of snow in 2007-2008!
The four storms of September and October this year that produced record breaking snow across the Inland Northwest have originated from Montana, rather than from the Pacific Ocean, where we typically get our warmer winter weather. These eastern storms literally backed up over our region, bringing unseasonably cold and snowy weather.
